COLLABORATIVE WORK WITH THE JOURNALIST LISA WINTER

TO A LARGE EXTENT, THE CARE OF OLD AND SICK PEOPLE IN GERMANY IS BASED ON THE WORK OF FOREIGN CARE WORKERS - MOST OF THEM FROM EASTERN EUROPE, MOST OF THEM WOMEN.

THEY LOOK AFTER THE RELATIVES IN NEED OF CARE 24 HOURS A DAY, SIX OR SEVEN DAYS A WEEK. FOR SEVERAL WEEKS OR MONTHS THEY WORK IN A HOUSEHOLD AND TAKE OVER THE CARE WORK, OFTEN WITHOUT BREAKS, DURING DAY AND NIGHT TIME.

THE PROJECT "STRONG HANDS" SHOWS THE WORK AND LIFE REALITY OF ZUZANNA*, A 24-HOUR CARE WORKER WHO HAS BEEN CARING FOR OLD AND SICK PEOPLE IN GERMANY FOR 14 YEARS. ZUZANNA HERSELF IS 64 YEARS OLD.
